Mrs. Kaufman is a former partner with Stikeman Elliott (international law firm), where she practised antitrust law. She has served on a number of boards since 1987, when she became a director, Chair of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Selkirk Communications (diversified communications company).
She is also a director of The Historica-Dominion Institute (a national charitable organization dedicated to Canadian history, identity and citizenship) and the Institute of Corporate Directors. She also serves on the Canadian Advisory Board of Catalyst (non-profit organization working to expand opportunities for women in business). In 2001, she was named a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors. In 2009 she became a member of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Committee on the Public Service.
Mrs. Kaufman is a director on the BCE board since June 1998. She is also a member of the Corporate Governance Committee.
Mrs. Kaufman is also a director of Bell Canada and TransAlta Corporation (Chair).
